I already know my gross margin and overall company profitability from my accounting system. Why would I need Cogs’z?
- That’s a great question! We don’t want to compete with or replace your accounting, billing, or financial reporting system. They are great for high-level reporting, but Cogs’z takes margin and profitability analysis to the next level by properly connecting your expense to the exact customers and products they serve. This is where the magic happens and companies see for the first time what’s really driving the business. This is where fact based decisions can be made across the company to set better prices, quote healthier deals, retain high-profit customers, and price increase low-profit customers. This is just the start of many key decisions companies make when using Cogs’z.
What data is required to make Cogs’z work?
- There are three types of data necessary to drive the most insightful data from Cogs’z. The first is customer revenue by month by product sku. This will tell the system what products are producing the revenue. Next is a list of costs or expenses by month incurred by the business to directly or indirectly support its products and customers. This is usually COGS and other related expenses like CSMs, Account Management, Sales and Marketing. Cogs’z can also handle any overhead expense used to support the business used to understand contribution margin by customer and product. Lastly, Cogs’z can handle any key business drivers used to accurately allocate expenses to customer and products. These could include support tickets, user counts, calls, shipments, payments, or any kind of transaction. With the above data, Cogs’z can show you opportunities to drive growth and improve profitability.
What if my data is not well organized, can Cogs’z help me with this?
- Yes, Cogs’z has experts on staff with backgrounds in finance and data analysis to help at any level required. Our initial setup fee includes help via zoom during your install. We also offer several levels of consulting packages to assist you in data preparation, mapping, customer ID management, product SKUs, and the identification of key business drivers unique to your business. Like they say “garbage in is garbage out”, so let us help you get it right the first time.
How hard is it to load all my contracts into Cogs’z?
- It’s actually quite easy and requires very little manual input. Most customers batch upload their contracts through Cogsz’ import utility. During the import process, our AI engine will identify each contract type, categorize them into folders, and extract key terms and conditions from each document. All you will need to do is manage any exceptions where AI is unable to properly read a contract. The best supported contract types are PDF and MS Word. While we can read images, they are not the best for AI accuracy.
On an ongoing basis, you can email contracts into the system or manually upload them. In both cases, AI will do the heavy lifting to categorize and extract key legal terms and conditions.
